Make Money with Google

We have all seen the ads online or job boards saying, “Single Mom Makes Thousands Online Working for Google” or something similar. People have always been intrigued on how Google makes money and how they can get some of it. Times can get tough and earning a few extra dollars by making money online seems easy enough. So how hard can it be?

Google Does Hire People to Work from Home Just Not YOU!
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if you want to learn how to make a website and make money working for Google, it’s not going to happen. Excuse me, actually Google does pay people to work from home, while setting heir own hours in exchange for doing a bit of research. But the odds of you being selected for one of those jobs is 1 and a billion. They have a job board located here. But before you click, beware you will need a Bachelors Degree and something related to Software Engineering to even apply. You’ve been warned.

I personally don’t know anyone who has been successful in being selected, so lets move on to some other options. Like making money by helping promoting Google’s programs and harnessing the traffic Google sends them from their search results.

How to Get Started
The best way to get started with either of these methods is to have your own website. Many people will go the cheap route and try to make a free website and that can work just fine. However, I don’t suggest you go that route. There’s nothing wrong with it, I just prefer the flexibility of making a website by purchasing your own domain and hosting, then installing WordPress. Making your own website is somewhat cheap (under $20 starting out) and easy. If you want to learn how to setup your own site, start here.

How The Money is Really Made
Google’s money is made by producing clicks for advertisers. This happens in three ways.

  1. On Google’s Search engine –
  2. On other people’s websites (your site can be one of these)
  3. The third program is called Google Adsense. As part of the program, Google allows people who have websites to place ads on their website’s pages. When their visitors click on an ad, Google gets paid. Google shares that revenue with the website owner.

So what does this mean? It means that you can start a website, place Google ads on it, and get paid when your visitors click on an ad. On average, you can count on around 5% of your website’s visitors to click on an ad. The amount you get paid varies but is usually somewhere between $0.10 and $1.00 per click. But first you will have to do a bit of keyword research to know words advertisers are paying for ad how much they will pay out.

How Do You Get Visitors to Your Website (and Click Ads)?
Visitors to your website will need to come from a variety of sources. I receive visitors on my website from Google, referrers (other people’s websites) and direct link (typing in my url directly). I put articles on my website based on what I believe people will search for and by doing keyword ressearch. This allows my websites to show up in Google’s search engine. I have ads on my website from Google’s Adsense program. People visit my site. Around 5% of them click on an ad and I get paid. For more tips on getting traffic to your website, start here.
